2002 in Review
Looking back, we didn't "do" quite as much this year as in years past, but we still have some memorable moments.  A large part of the year was taken up with Janet's back surgery and subsequent recovery.  In the times before and after, we did manage to have some fun.

First thing that happened of interest was we had a bit of snow in January.  If you've visited our home page, you saw some photos of the snow there.  Here's one of Buddy and his first encounter.
On the other hand, Samantha takes it all in stride.
The next event of the year was June's birthday.  Janet was intent on not letting it go by ALSP unnoticed so she brought in a birthday card and passed it around, decorated June's desk and supplied a big cake.
Janet's birthday was a little less flashy.  We just went out and played golf!

By late spring Janet was well on her way to recovery from her surgery at the end of April and Memorial Day brought a glorious show of flowers in our yard.
When the spring term was over at the college, June started her big project of the summer - repainting the house.  She also repainted the lighthouse that was in the side yard.  Someone stole it out of the yard in the fall of 2002 but Janet is going to build a new one from a pattern we found.  Hopefully we'll have it again in the spring of 2004.
The summer brought our first visitors from the east.  June's good friend Ann came for a week.  Then a few weeks later some other friends from New York stopped by on their way through.  Brother Jim and his boys also came up for a few days and we had fun on the dunes.

When September rolled around June went back to work and Janet did too.  She was offered a part time position teaching Spanish 2 at the college which she enjoyed very much.  In October, a friend from Hearst Castle stopped by to see us for a few days and he and Janet went to a famous Halloween party.  It has been going every year for several years and if you go, you  have to go in costume which they did.  Janet resurrected the Fairy Godmother from Cinderella for one more appearance and John became a friendly wizard.
For Christmas this year we went to Vallejo and spent the holidays with Jeanne and Jerry.  Jim, Gavin and Trevor came over on Christmas Day and we overindulged in multiple ways.

The end of 2002 found us tucked safely in the comfort of our own home.  Buddy helps June in her computer work and is an integral part of building this web site.
