Oregon is a much larger state than I realized. Last summer, when we started our cross country trip, we decided to go east through part of Oregon and check out the Three Sisters in the Cascade range and the desert area. It took us two days to get out of the state and not that much time was sightseeing - it was just driving towards Idaho!
There's still a lot of the state that we haven't seen or spent much time in, but here are some shots of areas we have visited.
North & Middle Sister in the Cascade range near Bend, OR and
a huge lava field
The Painted Hills are in the northeastern part of
the state in what is called the high desert.
Crater Lake and Wizard Island in late June
Another view of Crater Lake. There was about 4 feet of
snow in much of this area and many side roads were
still closed in spite of it being June 27th.
These two shots are of the Rogue River Gorge.
410,000 gallons a minute shoots through this gorge. Care for a swim?
