We adopted Buddy from the Animal Shelter in the early summer of 2001. At that time, we still had Loki and we had cats. We took him because of all the dogs at the pound, he was the only one not barking and he had this sad, soulful look. We soon learned he knew how to bark very well and his barking would about drive us nuts. We didn't know where he came from. We only knew that he had been taken back to the pound three times before we took him and they said he didn't get along with other dogs.
He had many issues and never really learned to be a dog. Some dogs are able to overcome their bad beginnings, but he always seemed haunted by his. He loved us in his own way but he was afraid of strangers and agressive towards most other dogs.
As he continued to age, his temperament did not improve and there were times, when we were trying to do something to him to ultimately help him, that he just got very scared and bit us. He was a fear agressor through and through - I will get you before you get me. But we loved him and did the best we could for him for over 13 years. We were never really sure how old he was, but we are guessing he was around 15 when he finally went over the rainbow bridge.
Because his hair grew continually, he needed to groomed periodically. He never liked it and every time he came home he looked different. As he got older, grooming wasn't for style - it was just a necessity and our only goal was to get his hair short so we could stretch the time between groomings as much as possible. When he was younger, we never knew what to expect when we picked him up from the groomer - he looked different every time. Thus the title of this page.
